American Ambassador to Celebrate Thanksgiving with Downtown Community Ministry
Seasonal festivities are launched in style with a Thanksgiving lunch served to Downtown Community Ministry clients on Wednesday 21st November at 12:00noon.
Wednesday’s lunch is sponsored by the American Embassy to celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving in Wellington and Ambassador William McCormick will carve the turkey and explain the meaning of Thanksgiving.
DCM Director Stephanie McIntyre says, “It’s great to once again work with the US Embassy and offer a festive meal for our clients. There was an amazing response to last year’s lunch so we’re really looking forward to it”.
Wesley Methodist Church on Taranaki St has kindly donated the use of its kitchen and hall for the 100 people expected to attend.
Great effort is being made to create an authentic Thanksgiving experience. A superb coalition of chefs from Wellington’s finest restaurants has been brought together by Anita Sarginson from The Flying Burrito Brothers.
Anita and others members of the New Zealand Chef Association will prepare and serve the meal that includes traditional favourites such as roast turkey, cranberry sauce and pecan pie.
