Rescues over the Weekend
The Wellington based Westpac rescue Helicopter was called to a 31yr old female in the Wairarapa who had fallen off her horse while out riding with her friends, late Saturday afternoon. The Westpac Helicopter responded to the scene with a Wellington Free Paramedic on board. We landed near the patient who was on top of a ridge.
The friends had done a good job of treating her injuries as best they could until the helicopter arrived. She was transported to Wellington Hospital Emergency Department with suspected head and Back injuries.
No other details are available at this time.
Early this morning the Wellington based Westpac rescue helicopter was called by police to attend a capsized boat near Te Awaiti on the Wairarapa east coast. Initially there were two persons reported in the water. Enroute we were advised that a local boat had rescued the two persons but we were still required to check the condition of one of the persons. On arrival we found a 70yr old male suffering from hypothermia, and he was treated and transported to Wellington Hospital Emergency Department. Last update he is in a stable condition in Wellington Hospital.
