A Slip Of The Tongue Raises $28,000
A show organised by and featuring Waikato District Health Board staff has raised $28,000 for a local charity.
The hospital revue Lapsus Linguae (A Slip of the Tongue) played to full houses over three nights in September at the
Clarence St Theatre with all money raised going to the True Colours charity, a non-profit organisation supporting
children and young people from birth to 18-years-old who live with a chronic, serious or life-threatening illness.
The amount raised was a closely-guarded secret until a celebration afternoon tea yesterday (Thursday November 1)
attended by representatives from the cast, committee and production crew. Presentations were made by Waikato DHB chief
executive Craig Climo who said he was thrilled to see the amount of talent in the organisation and the obvious fun they
had in putting on the show.
The committee expressed their gratitude to all participants, sponsors and audience members and acknowledged the support
of the organisation in enabling them to stage the revue.
True Colours board member and Waikato Hospital paediatrician David Graham was overwhelmed by the donation and True
Colours representatives responded that the donation far exceeded their expectations.
The next revue is planned for September 2009.
