Re-carpeting of Hamilton Central Library
Hamilton Central Library users can expect restricted access to the facility from 5-23 November 2007 as it undergoes
re-carpeting.
The library will remain open throughout the re-carpeting though public access will be restricted according to
work-zones.
From 5- 9 November, public access to Level 2 stack and the staircase will be restricted. From 12-23 November, Level 3
will be closed to the public. Reduced Information and Heritage services will be offered from Level 2, being newspapers,
limited computer services, archives and telephone directories.
Hamilton Libraries director Faye Clark says that the re-carpeting of Hamilton Central Library is another example of
Council’s commitment to providing a well-maintained, clean and comfortable facility for community use and enjoyment.
“The Libraries strive to offer uninterrupted services to patrons and we are pleased that we can remain open during the
re-carpeting works. We are aware that restricted public access may cause inconvenience to some customers but we are
confident that we will continue to meet the needs of Central Library users either at the central library itself or the
other community libraries.”
The re-carpeting of Hamilton Central Library is part of Hamilton City Council's library maintenance programme.
