New Group Manager appointed

Kapiti Coast District Council has appointed a new Group Manager Assets and Services, Chief Executive Leigh Halstead announced today.

He is Gary Simpson, currently Contract Project Manager for the major Sports & Events Centre being constructed in Porirua City and formerly General Manager Leisure & Recreation with Porirua.

“As an experienced manager of people, budgets and significant capital projects, Gary has demonstrated he has the managerial skills and leadership flair that this role with the Kapiti Coast District Council requires,” Mr Halstead said.

“As a former General Manager with Porirua City he brings to us a wealth of experience and knowledge which I’m sure he will put to good use in his new position.

“He introduced a performance management and initiative scheme into his group within Porirua City which was subsequently taken up by the wider Council. This kind of approach is very much in tune with the aims and goals we have in Kapiti.”

As Group Manager Assets & Services, Mr Simpson will lead the main operational groups within the Kapiti Coast District Council including those responsible for infrastructure building and maintenance, the vitally important areas of water and wastewater as well as parks and recreational assets, environmental control and customer service.
