WESTON OPTION Information Sheet 11
Social, Cultural and Historical impact assessment
Holcim (New Zealand) Ltd is distributing this week (19-20 December) nearly 8000 copies of its Weston Option Information
Sheet No. 11 (Social, cultural and historical impact assessment) to residents of Oamaru, Weston, Enfield, Ngapara,
Windsor and surrounding areas, continuing its practice of providing information to the community as it becomes
available.
Information Sheet No.11 provides:
• Information on how construction and operation of the proposed Weston cement plant and associated quarries and
pits might affect local communities
• Information relating to cultural or historical assessments.
It is based on the Social Impact Assessment, as well as cultural and historical assessments, that are being prepared for
the Weston Option resource consent application.
The aim of the Social Impact Assessment was to identify the potential effects of the Weston Option on people and
communities. It looked at how the potentially positive effects of the Weston Option could be maximised, and how any
potentially negative effects could be avoided, mitigated, or otherwise managed.
Holcim (New Zealand) Ltd has completed and distributed ten other information sheets this year:
• The consultation process
• The Weston Option overview
• Construction
• Noise
• Transport
• Air
• Ecology
• Weston Option quarries
• Frequently Asked Questions
• Servicing
People who wish to receive copies of these earlier information sheets are able to do so by contacting Holcim on 0800 43
20 20.
