Students Awarded Medals At Flower Show
The Ellerslie International Flower Show announced this week that three Wellington Institute of Technology (WelTec) students have been awarded medals in the 2006 Tertiary Competition.
• Cora Torr (Landscape student) – Gold Medal
• Michael Buist (Horticulture student) – Silver Medal
• Annika Robertson (Horticulture student) – Bronze Medal
The students were asked to design a rooftop garden and submit their entry as a concept plan and scale model.
WelTec Horticulture and Landscaping Team Leader Tim Angus says it was exciting that all the WelTec students who entered the competition received medals.
“There are always quite a lot of entries, from universities as well as polytechs. Its good for the students to get recognition for the quality of their work,” says Tim.
“This was a very practical application of everything they have learned. It’s also very valuable for the students to have their work seen by the many visitors to the show.”
