GOWellington - New Name and New Look for Wellington’s Bus Service
GOWellington will be the new name for Wellington’s buses, which currently operate under the name of Stagecoach Wellington. As well as being renamed, the Infratil-owned bus company will undertake a full rebrand – with a new logo, new yellow and black livery and a repaint of all its 200 Wellington City buses.
“We are delighted with the strong new local identity. After all, this is the Wellington bus service, owned by a Wellington based company, serving Wellingtonians and moving them about their city. The company branding needs a Wellington flavour,” said GOWellington Executive Chairman, Ross Martin.
“We believe local identity is important to a public transport company. It can only help get more people on the bus. Wellingtonians take great pride in the easily accessible nature of their city. The public bus system is an important part of that,” said Mr Martin.
The new brand will be rolled out progressively from February 2007.
“GOWellington is a positive and energetic brand, which fits really nicely with the investments our new owners are making in the company.
“We are introducing state-of-the-art smart card ticketing technology, we have the new trolleys arriving shortly and we are investing significantly to spruce up the service – with new customer service training programmes and more resources committed to bus cleaning and presentation,” said Mr Martin.
All of the former Stagecoach services will be re-branded. New identities for the Hutt Valley bus service, as well as the Auckland-based services, will be revealed over coming months. New Zealand listed infrastructure investment company, Infratil, bought Stagecoach New Zealand, from its former Scottish owner last year.
