Jacquie Ure Exhibition
Opening function Tuesday November 7, 5.30pm – all welcome.
Reloading is a beautiful body of paintings by Auckland artist Jaquie Ure. She makes her works by loading her brush with paint and does not lift it from the canvas for the duration of the painting.
Reloading is part of an ongoing investigation of the possibilities that present themselves in the simple act of exploring the materiality of paint and using it to fill in an area in a way that almost, but not quite, excludes subjective decision making. “It provides a way in which to explore my ongoing interest in edges and boundaries, particularly those between areas of order and disorder. These paintings are part of a wider interest in attempts to make sense of the world: to organize it, to make or see patterns in it, to understand the nature of instability and catastrophe.”
Jaquie Ure completed her Masters in Fine Arts at Elam in 2004. She is currently a lecturer at Whitecliffe College of Arts & Design.
All are welcome to attend the opening function on Tuesday November 7 at 5.30pm. Platform01 is located in Hamilton at 467 Victoria St, Room 1, Level 2 (above TRACS records)
