Sumner Road explosive detonation this Friday about 1pm
After lunch on Friday 3 November, probably about 1pm, contractors will be setting off a small explosive charge in a rock above Sumner Road near the Timeball Station. This is to reduce the size of a rock to smaller pieces for safe removal from above the road. The rock was part of the rock slip that occurred on Monday morning. There may be some noise in terms of a "bang" but there will not be any danger to the public and there will not be any flying rock as a result. Traffic will be stopped for the short duration of the blast and will be well clear of the site. All emergency services and effected parties have been notified.
