CMJ traffic bulletin: Sunday 29 October until Thursday 2 November Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.
CMJ Stage 2 Full motorway closures: Sunday 29 October until Thursday 2 November - CLOSED - overnight from 9.30pm until 5am the following morning: * Southern Motorway (SH1) between Cook St off-ramp and Hobson St on-ramp southbound
Monday 30 October until Thursday 2 November - CLOSED - overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning: * Southern Motorway (SH1) between Nelson St off-ramp and Wellington St on-ramp northbound
Ramp and link closures: Sunday 29 October until Thursday 2 November - CLOSED - overnight from 8.30pm until 5am the following morning: * Newton Rd on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound
Sunday 29 October until Thursday 2 November - CLOSED - overnight from 10pm until 5am the following morning: * Grafton on-ramp to Southern Motorway (SH1) southbound
Sunday 29 and Monday 30 October - CLOSED - overnight from 9.30pm until 5am the following morning: * Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Newton Rd off-ramp citybound
Sunday 29 October - CLOSED - overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning: * Southern Motorway to Northwestern Motorway (SH1 to SH16 link) westbound
Sunday 29 and Monday 30 October - CLOSED - overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning: * Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Nelson St off-ramp citybound * Western Springs on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) eastbound
Tuesday 31 October until Thursday 2 November - CLOSED - overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning: * Northwestern Motorway to Southern Motorway (SH16 to SH1) link southbound * Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Port Link portbound
Note: When the Newton Rd off-ramp from SH16 is closed the Nelston St off-ramp will remain open and vice versa.
During these times motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.
Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.
In the event of inclement weather, the closures will be postponed to the next fine evening.
The CMJ Project Stage 1 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project, completed in January 2005, covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps.

Stage 2 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Cook St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St. The SH16 Newton Rd to Western Springs Auxiliary Lane westbound widening project is included in CMJ Stage 2 works.
The Public Information Centre at 13-19 Howe St, Freemans Bay is no longer open on a regular basis. Any member of the public who has concerns about or wishes to discuss aspects of the project may make an appointment by phoning 0800 CMJ CORE (0800 265 2673).
