Science Of Toys On Show At Motat
Today MOTAT celebrated the opening of their latest exhibition at Toys: Science at Play with an event for volunteers,
staff, teachers and special guests.
Visitors at today’s event got to tinker with a spinning top, mess around with magnets and indulge their imaginations.
The newest interactive offering at MOTAT allows children to get their hands on 40 engaging exhibitions, including
robots, dolls, pinball, kaleidoscopes and more. The toys mirror technological developments in society over the past 100
years and are themed around five zones; Imaginative, Mysterious, Creative, Moving and Timeless.
“Originally designed in Australia we’re proud to host the exhibit in Auckland” says MOTAT Museum Director, Jeremy
Hubbard. “MOTAT is passionate about showcasing technology and this exhibit opens up a world of discovery of the science
that makes toys work”.
On now until the end of January 2007 the interactive exhibition is aimed at five to 12 year olds and will fascinate both
children and adults alike. All inclusive admission is $14 for adults, $7 for children and seniors and $30 for a family
pass. Under 5s are free.
