International White Cane Day

International White Cane Day,
Sunday 15 October
This Sunday is International White Cane Day, which is being promoted by the Association of Blind Citizens NZ (ABC NZ).
The white cane is seen as an international symbol of mobility and independence for the blind as it allows them to ‘walk with confidence’.
Christchurch City Council has a Disability Reference Group and its responsibilities include promoting public awareness about disability issues in the community.
