Otaihanga water supply shut down on Tuesday
The Otaihanga water supply will be shut down between 10.00am and 4.00pm on Tuesday October 3 2006 to complete the installation of a new water main, the Kapiti Coast District Council’s Group Manager Community Assets & Services, Rob Williams has advised.
“The Council has installed a new 375mm diameter water main in Otaihanga Road between State Highway 1 and Ratanui Road,” he said.
“The aim is to make the reticulation more robust and help safeguard the supply of water to the Paraparaumu Ward, which includes Otaihanga, in the event of an accidental breakage or natural disaster.”
To complete the installation of this watermain, a connection must be made to the existing water main in Ratanui Road and the existing water supply to Otaihanga must be shut down for a period of time to do this.
“Although the water supply may be restored at any time between the 10.00am and 4.00pm we recommend residents store water for their immediate needs in a suitable container. “When the supply is restored any air bubbles and sediment should be cleared by running outside taps for at least two minutes. If the water does not clear after five minutes call the Council on Tel. (04) 296 4700 for assistance.”
