Win A $1,500 Bike At The Cycle Science Naenae Tri
Entries have opened for the 15th annual Naenae Triathlon with the event set for Sunday 15 October 2006 at Naenae Pool in Lower Hutt.
The 4km run, 18km cycle and 300m swim is an ideal opportunity for those who want to get back into shape for summer and to give triathlon a go. The event also provides a challenge as a season starter for the more serious athlete who is training to compete in bigger events.
The friendly, safe event is open to anyone aged 12 years and up and offers individual and team entry options, including an option specifically for school students. The Matt Dryden Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the 1st place getter in the under 15 category.
“The Cycle Science Naenae Triathlon is perfect for people wanting to try their hand at triathlon and attracts people of all shapes, sizes and abilities. The main emphasis is on getting physically active and having fun” says Duncan Chisholm, Hutt City Council’s Recreation & Events Manager.
This year, newly opened cycle shop Cycle Science has thrown its support behind the event and come on board as naming rights sponsor and has put a TREK road bike valued at $1,500 up for grabs as the major spot prize.
It’s also not too late to start training for the event and to help participants a six-week training plan is available on the website courtesy of Fitness Goals Ltd.
Additional personal instruction on swimming stroke correction and running technique is also available from Ali Dennis at Fitness Goals by phoning 027 230 6214 or sending an to email to alidennis@paradise.net.nz.
