Urban design award winners announced
Winners of the inaugural People's Choice Mayoral Urban Design Awards will be announced at the official opening of Auckland Architecture Week, 1pm, 6 September 2006, Britomart Pavilion, Britomart heritage precinct.
Auckland city Mayor Dick Hubbard will present the two winners with $1000 vouchers for camera equipment.
The awards invited non-professional people to nominate buildings, spaces or places in the city they think follow good urban design principles.
Nominations in two categories, one covering the general public and another, tertiary students, were judged by Auckland City urban design group manager Ludo Campbell-Reid and two members of the Mayoral Taskforce on Urban Design, Barry Rae and Martin Udale.
A display featuring the winning nominations and those "highly recommended" will appear at the Britomart Pavilion during Architecture Week 6-12 September, and later at various council locations.
