MEDIA ADVISORY
UPDATE: 4.20pm - 31 August 2006
Gas leak road closures continue
- Road closures in place because of a central city gas leak are continuing.
- Bowen Street is still closed to traffic between Lambton Quay and Tinakori Road with one exception. Vehicles travelling from The Terrace can turn right down Bowen Street to Lambton Quay but drivers are asked to avoid the area if they can.
- Contractors are working at several sites in the area.
- Commuters affected by the closure are advised to take an alternative route home tonight. It is unlikely Bowen Street will be open tonight and possibly tomorrow morning. Those travelling to the CBD in the morning via this route should look at alternative options. The public and media will be informed of any developments on the status of Bowen Street.
- There is pedestrian access on Bowen Street.
