Heavy snow Causes Delays
Heavy snow has fallen around the upper levels of the whole Banks
Peninsula area overnight. This has closed off access to most of the
outer bays. Contractors will be clearing snow all day today as well as
tomorrow. Most roads should be open by the end of today but some could
remain closed overnight.
Please do not try to travel to the outer bays today if you do not have
to. As well, the Summit Road above Christchurch has received snow and is
closed.
Winter driving conditions prevail on all Banks Peninsula and Port Hills
roads.
Care is needed on all hill roads around the Port Hills and Banks
Peninsula.
* Dyers Pass Rd has been cleared and is OPEN but care is needed
* Summit Road above the city is CLOSED
* SH75 Hilltop to Cooptown is CLOSED
* All the summit roads above Akaroa and the peninsula bays roads
are CLOSED
• The state highway at Akaroa is passable but care is needed
