Tina Shaw in the library
In this month's Glengarry Writers in the Library series, you are invited to hear talented writer Tina Shaw talk about
her latest book The Black Madonna at the Central City Library on 30 August.
Tina Shaw is a talented novelist, short story writer and journalist. Her latest novel The Black Madonna (2005) follows
her other acclaimed books Paradise, City of Reeds, Dreams of America and Birdie.
Described as a major literary talent by the NZ Listener, Shaw was the 1999 recipient of the Buddle Findlay Sargeson
Fellowship, and received the Creative New Zealand Berlin Writers' Residency in 2001 where she wrote The Black Madonna
during her tenure. She was the 2005 Writer in Residence at the University of Waikato and is a book reviewer for the New
Zealand Herald.
The Black Madonna is the story of a brief but dangerous love affair set in Nazi Germany and of the power of small
miracles.
This Glengarry Writers in the Library monthly series is presented in association with Whitcoulls.
