Survey Finds Good Support for Harbour Quays Development
The Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce today released the results of a recent survey of its members on the proposed Harbour Quays Development.
Asked whether they support the development, 60% of respondents said yes.
Respondents were then asked whether they would support the development under certain conditions – namely that the development be subject to normal planning rules and shareholder disciplines, that it faced the same cost structures as a private sector development and that it did not disrupt normal port operations.
Under those conditions, support for the development jumped to 79%.
The development is between Centreport and the Wellington Railway Station alongside Waterloo Quay. It will create new office space, including large floor plate and purpose built opportunities, as well as park areas and possibly residential buildings.
The Chamber regularly surveys members to ensure that it is fully aware of views on topical issues affecting the Wellington region.
