CMJ traffic bulletin: Saturday 12 August until Thursday 17 August
Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.
CMJ Stage 2
Full motorway closures:
Sunday 13 August - CLOSED - overnight from 9.30pm until 5am on Monday:
. Southern Motorway (SH1) southbound between Cook St off-ramp and Hobson St on-ramp
Monday 14 August - CLOSED - overnight from 10.30pm until 5am on Tuesday:
. Southern Motorway (SH1) between Symonds/Port/Wellesley St off-ramp and Fanshawe St on-ramp northbound
Ramp and link closures:
Saturday 12 until Monday 14 August - CLOSED - from 7am on Saturday until 5am on Monday 14 August:
. Port to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound and Wellesley St on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16)
Sunday 13 August - CLOSED - overnight from 10.30pm until 5am on Monday:
. Southern Motorway to Northwestern Motorway (SH1 to SH16 link) westbound
Sunday 13, Monday 14 and Thursday 17 August - CLOSED - overnight from 9.30pm until 5am the following morning:
. Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Nelson St off-ramp citybound
Monday 14 until Thursday 17 August - CLOSED - overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning:
. Southern Motorway (SH1) northbound to Symonds/Port/Wellesley St off-ramp
. Hobson St on-ramp to Southern Motorway (SH1) southbound
Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 August - CLOSED - overnight from 9.30pm until 5am the following morning:
. Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Newton Rd off-ramp eastbound
Monday 14 until Wednesday 16 August - CLOSED - overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning:
. Western Springs on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) eastbound
During these times motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.
Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.
In the event of inclement weather, the closures will be postponed to the next fine evening.
The CMJ Project
Stage 1 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project, completed in January 2005, covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps.

Stage 2 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Cook St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St. The SH16 Newton Rd to Western Springs Auxiliary Lane westbound widening project is included in CMJ Stage 2 works.
The Public Information Centre at 13-19 Howe St, Freemans Bay is no longer open on a regular basis. Any member of the public who has concerns about or wishes to discuss aspects of the project may make an appointment by phoning 0800 CMJ CORE (0800 265 2673).
