Traffic Bulletin To August 11
Transit New Zealand advises motorists of proposed closures for work on State Highway 1 for the construction of the
Northern Busway over the next week (weather permitting).
Should unforeseen circumstances present work on the dates below, the work will be postponed until the next fine night.
Sun 6 August
TRISTRAM AVE
The southbound on-ramp from Tristram Ave to SH1 – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5am for realignment of the on-ramp:
• Motorists to use Northcote Rd on-ramp as an alternative route.
• This closure will only be required if poor weather has prevented the work being done the week before.
Sun 6 and Mon 7 August
SOUTHBOUND MOTORWAY CLOSURE
All SH1 southbound motorway lanes from Constellation Drive on-ramp to Tristram Ave off-ramp – CLOSED – overnight from
11pm until 5am to allow for barrier relocation work:
• All southbound traffic will be diverted off the motorway at Constellation Drive and follow the sign-posted detours via
East Coast Rd, along Forrest Hill Rd and then on to Tristram Ave before re-entering the motorway at the Tristram Ave
southbound on-ramp.
• Motorists to use Northcote Rd on-ramp as alternatives.
• As part of this closure the Constellation Drive SH1 southbound on-ramp will also be closed from 9pm on these dates.
Tues 8 August
SOUTHBOUND MOTORWAY CLOSURE
All SH1 southbound motorway lanes between Northcote Rd and Onewa Rd – CLOSED – overnight from 11pm until 5am for the
demolition of Exmouth pedestrian footbridge:
• All southbound traffic will be diverted off the motorway at Northcote Interchange and diverted via Northcote Rd, Lake
Rd, Onewa Rd and back onto the motorway at Onewa Interchange.
• As part of this closure the Esmonde Rd and Northcote Rd SH1 southbound on-ramps will be closed from 9pm on this date.
• Work is progressing in this area and in the coming weeks there will be further full motorway closures from Northcote
Rd to Onewa Rd.
