MEDIA RELEASE
Time running our for environmental fund applications
For immediate release: Thursday 27 July 2006
Bay of Plenty people and groups are reminded to get their applications in soon for a major regional environmental fund.
Environment Bay of Plenty’s Environmental Enhancement Fund, which has half a million dollars on offer this year, closes for applications on Friday 11 August.
Community engagement coordinator Jillian Houghton urges those who are working on applications to finish them off well before the deadline. “Please don’t leave everything until the last minute,” she says. “When you’re rushing, it’s easy to make mistakes or forget important details – or to miss the deadline altogether.”
Fund administrator Taiana Torea-Allen can help if there are any problems. “If you’re stuck or want some advice, give Taiana a call.”
The Environmental Enhancement Fund has contributed nearly $5 million to more than several hundred projects since its launch six years ago. It is one of the most significant initiatives of its type in New Zealand.
Environment Bay of Plenty’s website contains in-depth information on the fund, including application forms. For further information, please call Taiana Torea-Allen on 0800 ENV BOP (368 267).
