Manukau’s library system excels at national computer awards
Manukau’s library system won two categories in the finals of the Computerworld Excellence Awards 2006 announced last Friday night.
Manukau operates library systems software in a consortium arrangement with several other Councils in the region. The group is known as eLGAR – Libraries for a Greater Auckland Region.
Manager of Libraries for Manukau City Council Chris Szekely and key library staff were on hand, along with representatives from Auckland, North Shore, Rodney and Waitakere Libraries, to collect the awards for:
- Excellence in the Use of IT in Government
- Most Successful Project Implementation of the Year
Council’s director of Community, Ian Maxwell is delighted that Manukau has collected another prestigious Computerworld Excellence Award, following last year’s Excellence in the Use of IT in Government Award, won for the implementation of IT at Botany Library.
“Not only does this award recognise innovation and excellence, it also recognises the importance of Manukau working alongside other council’s in the Auckland region in shared service initiatives. It also confirms Manukau Libraries as a frontrunner in the provision of user friendly information technology”
