Christchurch weather conditions update 1
Snow currently falling on some areas of Port Hills and Banks Peninsula has forced a couple of road closures.
Christchurch roads
The Summit Road from Geebbies Pass to Dyers Pass Road has been closed.
The Summit Rd from Mt Pleasant to Evans Pass is open to 4WDs only.
Banks Peninsula Roads
Reynolds Valley Road (in the Little River area) has experienced a slip which has temporarily blocked the road about 1km from the bottom. Contractors should have it cleared this morning. A couple of farm properties will be affected by this. An alternative route is available via Bossu Road but this may be affected by snow as this is a higher level road. This road is a single lane unsealed road that gives access to farms and life style blocks in Reynolds Valley off Okuti Valley.
Some light snow falls may affect higher level roads later as it is starting to settle.
Rain, hail and snow flurries continue to be the order of the day but should ease later this afternoon.
Winter driving conditions prevail on all Peninsula and Port Hills roads.
