SH20 Mangere Bridge closures in July
Transit New Zealand advises motorists that the southbound lanes on SH20 Mangere Bridge, between Neilson St on-ramp and Rimu Rd off-ramp, will be closed on Sunday 16 July from midnight until 4am on Monday morning.
The closure is needed for urgent road repair on the bridge.
All northbound lanes (from Auckland International Airport towards the city) will remain open as usual and will be unaffected.
A detour route will be clearly signposted during the closure. Please also watch for electronic message signs and listen to radio traffic updates for more information.
Detour: Between midnight and 4am, motorists travelling south use Neilson Street off-ramp, follow Great South Road, Salesyard Road, Favona Road and re-enter the Southwestern Motorway (SH20) via Walmsley Road on-ramp.
Motorists using the detour to travel south should allow an extra 30 minutes for their journey, especially when travelling to the airport.
A closure to the southbound lanes between Rimu Rd off-ramp and Walmsley Rd on-ramp will also take place on Monday 17 July from 9pm until 5am on Tuesday for resurfacing. A small detour will take motorists off at Mahunga Dr and back onto the motorway at Walmsley Rd. Delays are expected to be minimal.
Wet weather may postpone work on either night and further notice will advise of the next appropriate night.
Transit apologises in advance for the inconvenience and thanks you for your co-operation.
