CMJ traffic bulletin: Saturday 15 July until Thursday 20 July
Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.
CMJ Stage 2
Full motorway closures:
Sunday 16 until Thursday 20 July - CLOSED - overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning:
. Southern Motorway (SH1) northbound between Symonds/Port /Wellesley St off-ramp and Wellington St on-ramp
Ramp and link closures:
Saturday 15 until Monday 17 July - CLOSED - over the weekend from 7pm on Saturday, all day Sunday until 5am on Monday:
. Port to Northwestern Motorway and Wellesley St on-ramp (SH16 westbound) link
Sunday 16 until Thursday 20 July - CLOSED - overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning:
. Southern Motorway to Northwestern Motorway (SH1 to SH16 link) westbound
. Southern Motorway (SH1) northbound to Nelson St off-ramp citybound
. Southern Motorway (SH1) southbound between Cook St off-ramp and Hobson St on-ramp
. Port to Northwestern Motorway and Wellesley St on-ramp (SH16 westbound) link
. Port to Southern Motorway (SH16 to SH1) southbound including Grafton Rd and Wellesley St on-ramps
Sunday 16 until Tuesday 18 July - CLOSED - overnight from 11pm until 5am the following morning:
. Hobson St on-ramp to Southern Motorway (SH1) southbound
. Hobson St on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound
Sunday 16 July - CLOSED - overnight from 9pm until 5am on Monday:
. Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Nelson St off-ramp citybound
Monday 17, Tuesday 18 and Thursday 20 July - CLOSED - overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning:
. Northwestern Motorway (SH16) eastbound to Port link
. Northwestern Motorway to Southern Motorway ( SH16 to SH1) southbound link
Wednesday 19 July - CLOSED - overnight from 9pm until 5am on Thursday
. Western Springs on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) eastbound
During these times motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.
Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.
In the event of inclement weather, the closures will be postponed to the next fine evening.
The CMJ Project
Stage 1 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project, completed in January 2005, covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps.

Stage 2 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Cook St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St. The SH16 Newton Rd to Western Springs Auxiliary Lane westbound widening project is included in CMJ Stage 2 works.
The Public Information Centre at 13-19 Howe St, Freemans Bay is no longer open on a regular basis. Any member of the public who has concerns about or wishes to discuss aspects of the project may make an appointment by phoning 0800 CMJ CORE (0800 265 2673).
