Aucklanders for Aucklanders
The Auction is on!
Good Morning Auckland, it’s time to open your wallets and get bidding!
The Auckland City Mission’s Winter Appeal has begun with top celebrities joining other Aucklanders offering themselves – and various services – to the highest bidders.
Log on to www.trademe.co.nz/acm to bid for anything from a pampering afternoon with Charlotte Dawson, to a round of golf with Marc Ellis, to drumming lessons with Shelton Woolright.
Business or financial mentoring, a catered dinner party or a house concert, private yoga lessons or therapeutic bodywork, luxurious, rejuvenating weekends on the Coromandel, sailing on the Gulf, or your very own home handyman - these are just some of the things on offer at the Auckland City Mission’s auction site, www.trademe.co.nz/acm.
Money raised will go towards food, clothing and other services for the city’s most marginalized families and individuals. Auckland City Missioner Diane Robertson sees the auction as a fun opportunity for everyone in Auckland to benefit.
“This is a particularly hard winter. It has hit fast and sharp. We are all finding it cold, but some people are really suffering and need help from the Auckland City Mission with the basics,” she says. “People taking part in the Trade Me auction and sending in money through our household appeal are all helping fellow Aucklanders who are struggling.”
The auction will run for three weeks on www.trademe.co.nz/acm. People can also donate money directly to the Auckland City Mission by using the household appeal envelope; ringing 090042825 or 3792395; or posting a donation directly to the ACM, PO Box 5352, Wellesley Street. Food, clothing or bedding can be collected by phoning 3774322, or dropped off at the Mission, 140 Hobson St, Auckland City.
