Competition for Glen Innes Healthy Kai slogan
From Wednesday 12 July, the hunt for a slogan for the Glen Innes Healthy Kai programme is on!
The Glen Innes Healthy Kai programme will be officially launched in November and aims to promote and extend the range of
"ready-to-eat" healthy food choices available at the Glen Innes shopping centre. The project's steering group will
ensure the viability of healthy choices by working with the community, retailers, local health providers, and other
stakeholders.
Several members of the Glen Innes community are on the steering group as well as representatives from Ruapotaka Marae,
Ka Mau Te Wero, Glen Innes Primary School (Fruit in Schools), Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS), NZ
National Heart Foundation, Procare Network Auckland, Hapai Te Hauora Tapui Ltd, Community Child Health and Disability
Service, Tamaki Healthcare PHO, Auckland PHO, Total Healthcare Otara and Auckland City Council.
Georgie Thompson from Ruapotaka Marae is very excited about the project. "I really hope someone from the Glen Innes
community comes up with the perfect slogan for this extremely worthwhile project."
Gayle Sinclair, chair of the project steering group, is confident someone will come up with a catchphrase the whole
community will identify with. "A number of town centres now have Healthy Kai programmes running and their slogans
reflect the communities around them. Mangere says 'Get Hooked on Mangere Healthy Kai' and Otara's slogan is 'Get started
with Otara Healthy Kai'. Both slogans recognise the importance of eating healthy ready-to-eat food when visiting the
town centre."
Entry forms and a display about the project are available at the Glen Innes Community Library and Ruapotaka Marae from
Wednesday 12 July. The competition closes at 5pm on Friday 28 July and the winner will receive a $200 Pak'n'Save voucher
kindly sponsored by Tamaki Healthcare PHO.
