Wairarapa flood event – update no. 11
Greater Wellington staff continues to closely monitor river levels throughout the Wairarapa following heavy rain
yesterday and today.
The latest MetService report is predicting the rain should start to ease and move off towards the south.
River levels are currently holding steady. With the ground already very sodden, people in these areas should watch out
for rising rivers and streams. The Ruamahunga River at Martinborough Bridge will continue to be at a high level
throughout the day. The situation will continue to be monitored.
Local councils are continuously assessing roads. The public are advised to contact their local district council office
for more detailed information on road closures. Information is also available online at www.wrcdemg.govt.nz

In all Wairarapa districts there are still many road closures in place due to surface flooding and slips. Drivers are
urged to take extreme care on all roads and drive to the conditions.
