Wairarapa flood event – update no. 5
Greater Wellington staff continues to closely monitor river levels throughout the Wairarapa following a heavy rain event
last night.
Local councils are continuously assessing roads. The public are advised to contact their local district council office
for more detailed information on road closures. Information is also available online at www.wrcdemg.govt.nz

In all Wairarapa districts there are still many road closures in place due to surface flooding. Drivers are urged to
take extreme care on all roads and drive to the conditions.

The latest MetService report is predicting further rainfall in the fifteen hour period commencing 12:00 noon Thursday
with approx 80mm in the Wairarapa Ranges south of Martinborough. In the remaining parts of the Wairarapa further
rainfall in six hours from 9am Thursday with approx 30-40mm.
River levels are currently declining however these may rise given the predicted rainfall forecast. The situation will
continue to be monitored.
A further release will be issued at 8.00am Thursday morning.
