Exhibition unfolds at Our City O-Tautahi
A unique exhibition, Unfolding New Zealand, is currently on show at Our
City O-Tautahi.
The display features folding emigration maps which were published to
encourage new settlers to New Zealand. They are part of the collection
of Dr. Peter Maling, a well-known Christchurch map collector and author
of the landmark book, Historic Maps and Charts of New Zealand,
1642-1875.
Maps have always formed an integral part of a country's development and
New Zealand has been no exception. The maps at the exhibition reflect
the exploration and development of New Zealand during the 19th Century.
The exhibition is presented by the Antique Print Gallery, 34, New Regent
Street, Christchurch.
Unfolding New Zealand, 26 June - 15 July, free admission.
Our City O-Tautahi is the Council's community exhibition space on the
corner of Oxford Terrace and Worcester Boulevard.
