Family Violence focus in Manukau
A multi-agency campaign initiated by Manukau City Council to raise awareness of the disturbing effects of family violence will be launched tomorrow.
For the first time in Manukau, representatives from central and local government, health, women’s refuge, police, and other community agencies will collaborate in the programme with the aim of changing attitudes to, and reducing the instances of, family violence in Counties Manukau.
Other highlights of the campaign which will run until November are:
- “Matariki – Rebirth of a Community” Vigil Mangere Mountain – 27 June
- Asian Family Violence Seminar on 30 June
- Family Violence Roadshow - July
- Family Violence Week 6 – 13 November
- Counties Manukau District Health Board and Social Workers display and stand at Middlemore Hospital 25 November
The campaign demonstrates the importance of agencies working together to combat the disturbing problem of family violence in Manukau and means resources will be better spent and more help given to families in need.
Media are welcome to attend the launch.
