Dancing Queen Beatrice To Visit Police College
Athletics champion and dancing queen, Beatrice Faumuina will grace The Royal New Zealand Police College in Porirua on
Friday June 16.
Ms Faumuina, who is the designated patron of Wing 200 and a contestant in the TV One series 'Dancing with the Stars',
will give a demonstration with her dance partner Brian Jones to course participants and College staff.
Faumuina's sporting talent in discus and shot put has seen her win numerous medals at the Commonwealth Games and World
Championships, however more recently it has been her hidden dancing abilities that have drawn her into the spotlight.
All of the money raised at the gold-coin entry event will be donated to the National Heart Foundation.
"We are thrilled to be able to support the National Heart Foundation with our longstanding friend Beatrice. She has been
a great supporter of The Royal New Zealand Police College. I wish her every success in the celebrity dance competition,"
says National Manager: Training and Professional Development Alistair (Olly) Beckett.
Since Ms Faumuina became a Wing patron in 2002, two thousand and fifty three police constables have graduated from The
Royal New Zealand Police College.
It is expected around 800 new recruits will graduate this year, as part of the Government's new initiative to boost
Police numbers.
Last month, the first large intake of 95 new police constables graduated from The Royal New Zealand Police College and
another 96 frontline police officers are expected to graduate at the end of June.
