Christchurch Roads:
Hackthorne Road has now closed.
The bottom half of Dyers Pass Road (up to Hackthorne Road) is closed.
All of Summit Road is closed.
The intersection at Wigram Road and Hayton Roads is in flooding - it will probably be closed all day. Detours are available in the area.
It is expected that there may be some flooding in the Heathcote River area tonight, with high tide expected about 6pm.
The Old West Coast Road is open, but there is snow ploughing occurring.
Some flooding is now also being experienced on Langdons and Sales Roads.
Banks Peninsula (UPDATED):
Snow is now falling heavily on roads within the Akaroa Basin and Port Levy. Snow clearing operations are ongoing.
Snow clearing in progress on other higher level roads, drivers should not pass snow clearing plant unless instructed to do so.
All other roads in the Banks Peninsula area are still open but care is required.
There is flooding on SH75 in isolated locations between Tai Tapu and Kaituna Valley Road.
More rain and snow are expected later tonight. There is a likelihood of ice or frost forming on roads tomorrow as the weather clears. The major roads will be gritted overnight.
A decision will be made later today as to whether some roads on Banks Peninsula will be closed, as snow clearing does not occur after dark for safety reasons.
