Sylvia Park traffic: Latest Update
Transit New Zealand advises motorists that due to heavy visitor demand at
the new Sylvia Park shopping centre, traffic is now congested in the Mt
Wellington area.
All Sylvia Park car parks are full, and access to the centre has been
temporarily restricted to help reduce congestion.
Traffic is beginning to build on the Mt Wellington northbound off-ramp and
motorists are advised to use an alternative off-ramp.
Lanes on the Southern Motorway remain free flowing in both directions.
Transit and Sylvia Park request that visitors consider postponing their trip
to the shopping centre until later, and at present to avoid the area if
possible.
If you must travel in the area, please obey electronic message signs and
listen to radio bulletins for updates.
Transit is monitoring the traffic and working closely with the Sylvia Park
management team and Auckland City Council to manage congestion around the
shopping centre, and will provide further information when it becomes
available.
