Sylvia Park traffic : Latest Update
Transit New Zealand advises motorists that due to heavy visitor demand at
the new Sylvia Park shopping centre the car parks servicing the shopping
centre are now full. Traffic is beginning to build in the Mt Wellington area
in the vicinity of the Southern Motorway.
If the number of visitors continues to increase the area will become
congested.
Transit and Sylvia Park request that visitors consider postponing their trip
until later, and at present to avoid the area if possible.
The Southern Motorway is currently free flowing in both directions.
Motorists should look out for electronic message signs and listen to radio
bulletins for updates and alternative routes.
Transit is monitoring the situation and working closely with the Sylvia Park
management team and Auckland City Council to manage congestion around the
shopping centre, and will provide further information when it becomes
available.
