Westpac Helicopter Rescue
The Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter has just returned from flying a seriously injured man from a car accident in the Wairarapa.
The accident was located on St Hwy 2, just north of Featherston.
The helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic onboard, responded to the accident just after 7 pm.
While Fire Service personnel cut the man from his car the Police and Wairarapa Ambulance service personnel set up a landing area near the accident scene.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter transported a 79 year old Masterton man to Wellington Hospital - he is suffering from multiple, serious injuries.
As we understand it there was another person who died at the scene.
The man is currently being assessed and treated in the Wellington Hospital Emergency Department.
