Sting bounce back from slow start
The Ascot Park Hotel Southern Sting bounced back from a slow start to overwhelm the Southern Victorian Otago Rebels
61-38 in a third-round National Bank Cup netball match in Invercargill today.
Taking a narrow 13-12 lead into the first break, the Sting made the most of their opportunities with all four shooters
used during the match having high success rates. Veteran goalshoot Tania Dalton was the most impressive, missing just
one shot to record 28 successes from her 29 attempts.
The Sting had increased their first quarter lead to 29-21 at halftime and 46-31 at threequarter time.
The Rebels contested strongly in general court play but in a continuation from last week were let down by some poor
finishing. They had slightly less ball than the Sting but lacked their opponents accuracy, allowing the score to
balloon out in the second half.
Silver Ferns captain Adine Wilson was a dominant figure in the match, earning her the player of the match award.
