New Staff Join DCM
Downtown Community Ministry has added two new staff members over recent weeks, both of whom will offer very different types of experience to the organisation.
This week we profile Dougal Speir.
A musician, plumber and skilled social worker – what more could you ask for?
Having spent eight and a half years with Child Youth and Family in roles including senior practitioner and case management, Dougal brings extensive professional expertise to DCM.
He has also worked with PARS – the Prisoners’ Aid and Rehabilitation Scheme - which means he has a long history of the situations and issues faced by DCM clients.
Over the last few weeks many clients have seen Dougal in all areas of client service, assisting DCM staff and getting a first hand feel for what we do.
Dougal says he was attracted to DCM because, “of the belief that people deserve a second chance,” and this matches well with his own sense of social justice.
Director Stephanie McIntyre emphasises the valuable skills in case management that Dougal brings.
“I expect Dougal will be able to contribute significantly to DCM systems and operations allowing us to carry out our work with a higher level of purpose and care,” she said.
