Lane layout changes on Auckland’s Central Motorway

Lane layout changes on Auckland’s Central Motorway Junction
From Monday 10 April lane layout changes will be implemented on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to the Nelson St off-ramp and Southern Motorway to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) link. These changes are part of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction Stage 2 upgrade project.
The lane layout changes will provide a dedicated left hand lane to Nelson St and the CBD. Citybound traffic on SH1 will be able to use the left hand lane after passing the Symonds Street off-ramp.
There are lane layout changes also to the Southern Motorway to Northwestern Motorway (SH1 to SH16) link. This will become an off-ramp and no longer have its own dedicated lane.
Traffic heading north on SH1 to Auckland Harbour Bridge will continue to use the centre and right lanes of the motorway.
Advance warning signs will be in place to alert motorists to the lane layout changes. Motorists are advised to check overhead signs, be aware there may be delays as people adjust to the changes. In the event of wet weather, work will be postponed until the next fine night.
