SH20 Mangere Bridge closure - LATEST NEWS
Work on SH20 Mangere Bridge is progressing well. Two of the original ten tonne joints have been removed. Two of the new joints are now in place and ready for welding.
Traffic flow is reasonable, although delays are expected so continue to avoid the area if you can. Motorists travelling to the airport should continue to allow extra time for their journey. Although the southbound direction is open, traffic is being shifted onto the northbound lanes which is slowing down traffic.
If bad weather occurs, the bridge may reopen later than expected on Sunday.
Leaving the airport, motorists should take SH20B Puhinui Rd (signposted Manukau and South) to State Highway 1.
Transit apologises for any inconvenience this may cause you.
Travel advice for motorists:
- Avoid the area if you can
- If you have to travel, allow extra time - at least one hour for your journey, especially to or from the airport
- Consider using public transport, shuttles or carpooling to help reduce the number of vehicles on the road
