Saddle Up For The Pencarrow Coast Family Mountain Bike Ride
It's time to pump up the tyres, grease the chain and get out-and-about on two wheels to enjoy the fresh air and scenic
views with the Pencarrow Coast Family Mountain Bike Ride on Sunday 9 April.
The 20km return ride promises exercise and lots of fun of all ages. The route winds its way from Burden's Gate in
Eastbourne, along the gravel track next to the harbour to the historic Pencarrow lighthouse and then on to the true
shores of Cook Strait's rugged windswept coast and Lake Kohangatera. Keen cyclists can continue to on to the shipwreck
of the steamer Paiaka if desired.
Taken at a leisurely pace, the ride should take families with children about two to three hours to complete, dependent
on ability and number of stops. Drink stations and a portable toilet will be placed along the route for participants'
convenience.
While the ride itself is free to all, cyclists should register in advance by calling Leisure Active on 577 8099 or by
visiting www.huttcity.info/bikeride or by picking up an entry from Avanti Plus, 40 Bloomfield Terrace, Lower Hutt. FREE

Spot prizes are up for grab including a with a chance to win an Avanti Blackthunder mountain bike valued at over $500.
Under-14s must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 years or older (1 adult to 3 children). All cyclists must wear an
approved cycle helmet and mountain bikes are recommended.
So pack your picnics, put on your helmets and join us at Burden's Gate, end of Muritai Road, Eastbourne at 11:00am on
Sunday 9 April. On the day registrations open at 10:00am.
