Professor David Bellamy visits Upper Hutt.
Well known British Botanist and popular Conservationist Professor David Bellamy makes a break in his holiday to speak in
Upper Hutt tomorrow night (Wednesday 1 March at the Upper Hutt Cosmopolitan Club). City Promotion Manager Paul Lambert
says since Mr Bellamy's last visit in 2000 we have remained in regular contact regarding international issues. Mr
Bellamy left a lasting impression with Upper Hutt residents during the Science Festival in 2000 and a large audience is
expected.
Wayne Mason who wrote the famous song "Nature" in the late 60's when living in Upper Hutt has agreed to perform an
acoustic version to open the special evening with David Bellamy. As well as an informative and entertaining session Mr
Bellamy will present an eco tourism award that SKAL Wellington nominated the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary for.
Two roaming sheep were recently discovered in Kaitoke that are carrying fleeces larger than Shrek, the Bendigo Station
Hero! It is planned that one of these sheep will meet David Bellamy tomorrow night. Over 20 years ago David Bellamy
featured in some New Zealand television adverts promoting woollen carpets. The comparison of the length of the sheep
wool versus Mr Bellamy's beard is expected to produce some humour.
