AUCKLAND CITY COUNCIL MEDIA ADVISORY
27 February 2006
Newmarket bus lanes up and running
From today, new bus lanes along parts of Khyber Pass and Broadway are operational.
The bus lanes will help reduce bus journey times for people travelling to and through Newmarket.
General traffic lanes have not been affected, however some on-street parking has been replaced by bus lanes on both citybound and outbound routes between 7am and 9am, and 4pm and 6pm.
Bus lanes have been introduced in the following locations:
* the citybound bus lane on Broadway starts between Alpers and Edgerley avenues, and runs to halfway between Mortimer Pass and Morrow Street.
* the citybound bus lane on Khyber Pass Road starts at Melrose Street, and runs to halfway between Maungawhau and Mountain roads.
* the outbound bus lane on Khyber Pass Road runs between Parkfield Terrace and Huntly Avenue, and restarts just after Park Road, ending opposite Melrose Street (just before Suiter Street)
* the outbound bus lane on Broadway starts at Balm Street and ends just before St Marks Road.
