New off-ramp and traffic signals at Esmonde Road
From Monday 27 February, northbound traffic leaving the motorway at Esmonde Road off-ramp will now use the newly constructed off-ramp.
There will also be new traffic signals at the Akoranga Drive and Esmonde Road intersection. Signals will make it safer and easier for motorists travelling from west to east.
To enable the opening of the new off-ramp, the following closures are required:
. SH1 Esmonde Road and Akoranga Drive off-ramps will be closed from 8pm
on Saturday 25 February.
. Esmonde Road off-ramp access to Akoranga Dr and Esmonde Road will remain closed throughout Sunday 26 February.
. Esmonde Rd off-ramp access to Akoranga Dr and Esmonde Rd will be re-opened morning of Monday 27 February.
Motorists heading for Takapuna or Devonport should use Onewa or Northcote Road off-ramps during the closures.
"The new off-ramp is another significant step towards the completion of the Northern Busway project," says Clive Fuhr.
Motorists are asked to drive with caution and reduce speed when using the new off-ramp at Esmonde Road.
In the event of bad weather, the works may be postponed.
Transit thanks you in advance for your co-operation.
