Motueka Public Forum on Happy Valley/Cypress Mine, March 7.
The public are invited to participate in a Motueka forum on the proposed opencast coalmine in Happy Valley near Westport.
Representatives from Solid Energy, the Save Happy Valley Coalition, Forest & Bird, DOC, the Greens & local MP’s Damien O’Connor [Labour], and Chris Auchinvole [National] have been invited to present their views on the proposed Cypress Mine and it’s environmental, economic, and social impacts.
“The forum offers our community an opportunity to hear the views of interested parties, present their own views and discuss the issue in a respectful, impartial setting.” Said CommunityAction Coordinator Duncan Eddy.
“We look forward to an informative evening, robust debate, and perhaps bringing about some understanding between those with opposing views on this issue.”
The forum is at the Motueka Community House, Decks Reserve, on Tuesday 7 March at 7pm.
