AUCKLAND CITY COUNCIL MEDIA ADVISORY
13 February 2006
Delays expected on Tamaki Drive
Motorists using Tamaki Drive on Sunday 19 February are advised to expect delays and take alternate routes where possible, due to a number of events taking place in the area.
The Weetbix Kids Triathlon, Auckland Central Masters Swim and Cathay Pacific Half Marathon are all happening along Tamaki Drive this Sunday, and participants and their supporters are encouraged to take suggested detour routes.
Weetbix Kids Triathlon and Auckland Central Masters Swim competitors and spectators coming from north or west are advised to take the Greenlane East exit, then take Remuera Road, St Johns Road, and finally St Heliers Bay Road.
There will also be a number of road closures in the area on Sunday 19 February. Watene Crescent will be closed from 7am until 11.30am for the Cathay Pacific Half Marathon. The Parade between Tamaki Drive and Goldie Street, and St Heliers and Tamaki Drive between Marua Crescent and Goldie Street will also be closed from 9am to 2pm for the Weetbix Kids Triathlon. Residents will still have access with the assistance of traffic management staff.
These events are just three of over 1200 events facilitated by Auckland City each year.
