Join the party at Te Matariki opening celebrations
On Saturday 11 February from 11am -3pm, Clendon celebrates the official opening of Te Matariki Clendon Community Centre and Library with a packed programme of activities for all the family.
Following the official civic ceremony, led by Mayor, Sir Barry Curtis, guests will get the chance to meet stars from the Warriors, be entertained by the ever popular Aunties or enjoy storytelling from their favourite authors.
Later in the afternoon, local bands and dance groups are performing live and top boarders will be demonstrating their skills on the skate park. Kids can participate in a “Chant-a-thon”, get their face painted and be wowed by magicians and balloon artists.
Artist Daniel Tippet will also be creating a piece of artwork on the day to be hung in the centre.
The event will also be a great fundraiser for a range of community groups who are running refreshment and food stalls on the day.
Everyone is welcome to join the party for an afternoon of fun and free entertainment. The event takes place at Te Matariki Clendon Community Centre and Library, Palmers Road, Clendon from 11am-3pm.
