Get out to Waiheke's Little Day In
Kick back and celebrate Auckland's birthday Waihekian-style this Anniversary Weekend with some of New Zealand's hot
musical talent at 'Waiheke's Little Day In'.
The free annual Auckland City Music in Parks concert, held in Onetangi Sports Park from 4pm on Saturday 28 January, is
set to feature entertainment from some of Auckland's hottest young bands.
The headliners are Pluto who were finalists for 2005 Vodafone Music Awards for Best Rock Album, Spacifix whose
captivating and explosive performances won the Pasifika auditions, Goon who were previous winners of the York St Acid
Test, and The Electric Confectionaires who won the 2005 Smokefree Rockquest, wowing the judges with their
barbershop-garage-psychedelic-blues-surf-jazz-devonport-core sounds.
The local Waiheke line-up includes Offbeat Crew Charlie & Eric, Muthertung, Emeree Reweti, Sam Owen, Vrnda Torckler & Ben Blain, Genevieve, Repitwahh and 11-year-old singer-songwriter Ben Kara. Ben recently performed at Coca-Cola
Christmas in the Park and earlier in the year wrote and performed a song for a fundraising event held on Waiheke Island
in April last year.
Auckland City Music in Parks has plenty of music and plenty of space to enjoy it in this summer, so Waihekians and
visitors from Auckland can grab some food and some friends and head down to the park to enjoy the live music and family

This concert is just one of more than 60 free events provided by Auckland City, in association with Radioworks and
Waiheke Youth Centre's "Friends of the Street". They are all part of the Ak@Play summer events programme.
